Recovery Fairs bring about awareness and showcase the vital role the community plays in recovery. Relationships within the community help those in recovery to maintain and enjoy sobriety, avoid feelings of isolation, and establish connections with others who understand the experience. Community support creates a sense of belonging and provides hope.
During the event community providers, businesses and organizations will come together to provide a safe and fun event aimed at providing information, developing relationships and providing support to those in recovery and those seeking more information about resources in and around Franklin. The goal of the event is to establish meaningful connections within the community, to provide networking and collaboration opportunities for both the public and community stakeholders and to celebrate our local recovery efforts.
We encourage you to attend our event and to bring with you educational packets, hand-outs, brochures or other items of your choosing to share with the public in a vendor fair type of environment. This is also an opportunity for those in recovery to come and share their stories and talents. You are encouraged to bring games or activities that promote interaction with attendees, candy or other fun favors. I have seen vendors at similar events set-up popcorn and cotton candy makers, balloon animals, live music and dancing, snow-cone machines, face-painting stations, corn hole games, Naloxone demonstrations and materials, insurance navigation and materials, and carnival-type games. You are free to be as creative as you would like, and I would love to see a variety of activities to keep attendees engaged and entertained. You are also welcome to share items that promote your respective agency, to make available items such as shirts and to place “donation” containers. Tables and tents will not be provided, but you are permitted to bring your own. Additionally, I am very interested in hearing from those who might be interested in sharing recovery testimony and success stories.
